This post is the second post in our 3-part series discussing the importance of focusing your website on your clients. This article will touch on some design basics for two very different types of website genres: an alternative music band website and a company that sells bedding.
The design of your website should be appealing to your target audience. It should promote your product by creating for your audience an emotional response to it.
Band Website:
- The audience for an alternative band will most likely be a teenage to young adult crowd.
- Based on other successful band websites, this audience will be expecting your site to create a feeling of entertainment and inclusion into the band.
- Your website design should be heavy on the graphics.
- Include tons of photos of the band.
- Use artistic “edgy” textures and images.
- Include new and exciting interactive apps.
Bedding Website:
- The audience for a website that sells bedding will most likely be women of an age and income level that can buy bedding for themselves and their family.
- The design should create a feeling of comfort and beauty for the viewer.
- It should be clean and bright.
- The bedding product should be the focus; therefore, all other design elements should be simple so as not to compete with the product photos.
