winterize your home website

There’s a biting morning chill in the air and even though most of our days are filled with sun we can feel the change in season.  In Kalispell the street cleaning to pick up fallen leaves has already begun, which is fortunate because my trees decided winter began last weekend. If you haven’t started already you might want to think about winterizing your home.

At my house we’re pulling out the mower and weedeater for one last cutting, pruning the raspberries and other plants, changing our heating filters and cleaning out our garage to make room for the barbeque and other summer gear.

I’ve been living in an apartment for the last few years, so I didn’t exactly know all the steps to winterizing my home. Below is a list of resources I used to get up-to-date on how to winterize your home and yard.

Our yard is small, so we can take care of it ourselves. We’ll be weed and feeding with a hand fertilizer, but for some with larger lawns you might need to hire some extra help for fall yard care. Lawn aeration and weed and feed can make sure your lawn comes back healthy and green next spring. Our neighbors at Valley Maintenance can help you with fall yard care or winterizing your home.

While preparing your house for winter, you might want to consider preparing your website for the upcoming change in season. A dynamic website which gets updated is going to attract more visitors than static content. If your website is in need of a little maintenance, you can contact Bigfork Web to make any updates needed to prepare for winter:

  • A large portion of our community services tourism, and it might be time to highlight the winter activities available in the area rather than summer fun.
  • Don’t forget to update your store hours. You may have updated the hours on your front door, but did you remember to update business hours on your website?
  • Has your contact information changed?
  • Did you use this summer to remodel or update your business? Go ahead and announce any changes on your website.
  • Offering new products or services? Let your customers know.

Both search engines and users like fresh content on a website. Maintaining your website will encourage the healthy growth of your business.
